On Coming Home and Leaving Home

Written in the Big City

We are not coming home. We are leaving home. We are leaving the only home our kids have known.

Yet

We are coming back. Coming back to a place our kids barely remember.

Coming back with two suitcases One with our kids’ favorite toys One with clothes for 8 people– clothes which upon arrival are mostly useless and inappropriate for American culture and climate.

We are leaving home. Leaving a new house our kids love a house we’re just getting used to After a year of isolation, uncertainty, exhaustion.

We are not happy to leave We feel sad We feel exhausted We feel overwhelmed We feel confused We feel angry –with spiritual darkness that is so strong it is palpable –with injustice and exploitation –with poverty and inequality –with lies and the Father of Lies –with wicked, selfish rulers overtaken by the power of evil forces

We feel angry –that the people we love and serve are suffering and crying out for help, but don’t know the Living God who can break their chains of darkness and Make them free indeed!

We are angry that the world created Good is ruled by the Prince of Darkness.

We are not coming home. We are leaving our home.

We are sad and angry, but not ungrateful.

We know we are privileged, rich people Who have a place to escape in times of crisis (And the right passport to do so) We know we are spiritually powerful people Fueled by the prayers in Jesus name said by Faithful family and friends who love us and petition God on our behalf.

We are grateful for your prayers. We are grateful. We have much to be thankful for.

But

We are sad and hurting for our friends who can’t leave who can’t escape who will wake up facing another day of fear and uncertainty.

We are sad and hurting for our friends who are living in darkness surrounded by spiritual evil who are literally banging on pots and pans every night in an effort to call for help and chase away the bad spirits

Thank God that we are safe, but don’t worship Security We trust in the Name of Jesus! Thank God that we are rich, but don’t worship Prosperity Our treasures are in heaven! Thank God that we are healthy, but don’t worship Health Our life is in His hands! Thank God that we are making plans, but don’t worship Control We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on Him!

We are grateful for your diligent, powerful, unified prayers that protect us, comfort us, and give us strength

Please continue such diligent, powerful, and unified prayers for the M people! NOT for their Political Power alone But for their Spiritual Power that the spiritual chains will be broken! that they may know the Freedom that comes in Christ And in His Coming Kingdom!
